Travel Advice

As the coronavirus COVID-19 makes its way across the globe, our daily lives have been affected in so many ways. Many countries have implemented preventative measures to help prevent or lower the spread of the disease, and recommendations to stay at home and socially isolate yourself have been issued. Consequently, many individuals had to cancel or postpone their vacation plans. However, if everyone works together and heeds health and safety recommendations, life should return to normal. After the worst of the coronavirus epidemic is under control, people will be able to travel again. Here is the 2020 Travel Advice:

1- Pack Light – Use Small Suitcase:
Our first travel advice is to pack light. A small suitcase or backpack is the best choice when compared to a large suitcase. A lighter and smaller suitcase allows for ease of mobility if a traveler has to get somewhere in a hurry. It will also help if a traveler needs to move quickly to avoid a crowded space. It is common sense to pack and travel light in 2020.

2- Bank Account Access:
Next, access to your bank accounts while on vacation is essential. Bringing an extra bank card with you on your trip is a smart choice. ATM’s typically charge fees to withdraw money, but some cards now allow for purchases without extra fees. Not sure how your card works? Check with your specific credit card company before your vacation. Then, if you lose your card or have it stolen while traveling, an extra bank card will come in handy.

3- Practice Good Hygiene:
Whether at home or traveling, practicing good hygiene is of the utmost importance. Regularly wash your hands with soap and warm water and avoid sick people. Do not touch your hands, face or eyes. When you need to cough or sneeze, always cover your face with a cloth or use the inside of your elbow. Also, carry disinfecting wipes with you and clean off surfaces that you have to touch. Warm water and soap are great tools to keep hands clean and free of germs like the coronavirus. However, if a sink and soap are not available, use antibacterial hand sanitizer or gel instead. Likewise, shaking hands, hugging and cheek kisses used to be common practice when greeting others. However, it is now more important to keep your distance and greet others from away to stay safe.

4- Avoid Crowded Locations:
Next, the COVID-19 epidemic has shown the importance of avoiding crowded spaces. While popular tourist attractions will continue to attract large crowds once travel is possible again, there are ways to be safer. For example, travelers can avoid large crowds and busy locations by sightseeing early in the morning when there are less people in the area. Also, public transportation is a hot spot for germs and diseases that can be passed between travelers. Instead, always opt to walk or ride bikes if you can. Enjoy the fresh air and explore new destinations at the same time.

5- Digital Maps:
Digital maps that you can access from your phone are good tools when traveling. Although exploring a new town without a set plan is exciting, a digital map can help you identify locations that you should avoid.
